WELCOME

michaelkohnhorst.com is organized in a straightforward way with pages for; photography, cinematography, an overview of my working life with links to credits, a blog with essays, photoessays, and technical articles. There's also a contact page.

After 40 years working as a camera assistant, camera operator and cinematographer, I retired from my work on commercials, features, and tv productions. I still shoot small projects using my Micro Four Thirds cameras - specifically Panasonic Lumix GH5S cameras paired with Olympus zooms and prime lenses from Voigtlander and Zeiss.

I've returned to my first love - photography - and shoot a variety of subjects and genres. A few years ago I decided to sell off my beloved Contax G2 cameras and Zeiss lenses and now only shoot with digital cameras - specifically Panasonic Lumix GX85 and S5 cameras with Leica, Sigma and Olympus lenses. I usually shoot with a medium wide lens or a long normal/short telephoto. I tend to shoot black & white with the GX85 cameras and color with the S5 cameras, but this isn’t a hard and fast rule. I always shoot both JPEG and RAW files.

Thanks for dropping by.
